Technical Requirements for Interpreters

We're so excited to be teaming with you! 🎉 Please review the following Technical Requirements carefully—these must be met to set up your Home Station and begin working with SignGlasses.

A 2017 or newer laptop or tablet with:

• A built-in camera

• An operating system of Windows (8 and up) or Mac OS 10.10 (or higher).

• At least 8GB of RAM, 64-bit processor with 2 cores or more.

In our testing, using a Chromebook with SignGlasses will result in a less than ideal experience. Newer Chromebooks can be used but if your experience is unsatisfactory, you will need to switch to a different device. iPads are not compatible at this time.

• An up-to-date Chrome browser or an up-to-date Microsoft Edge browser.

• An Internet upload and download speed of at least 10 Mbps

  • A hard-wired/ethernet connection is required. You can test your connection here.

  • Please visit highspeedinternet.com for information on available service providers in your area, if needed.

Please note that the only browsers we support are Chrome and Microsoft Edge (with Chrome being the preferred option). Safari is not a supported browser and will not work with the SignGlasses platform at this time.

Wearing a wired headset is an absolute necessity. We recommend finding one that is comfortable for extended use!

Headsets we have tested and can recommend:

• Sonitum Headset

• Cyber Acoustics Stereo Headset

• Logitech ClearChat Comfort USB Headset

Your webcam can be a built-in webcam or an external webcam, but it needs to have at least 720p resolution.

Cameras we have tested and can recommend:

• Logitech C922 Pro Stream

• Emeet C950 1080p webcam

• Preferably a room with a door/lock.

• Face your light source; avoid backlighting from windows or lights behind you.

• Use soft, even lighting to reduce shadows.

• Camera at eye level and focused on you.

Having trouble getting your camera to focus? Turn off auto-focus in your camera or computer settings and adjust the focus manually so your face stays clear. Reach out to us at techsupport@signglasses.com if you need any assistance with this.

• Neat, wrinkle-free, solid color (blue preferred).

• Clothing should contrast with backdrop.

A lot of devices are compatible with the SignGlasses platform! Anything that meets our Technical Requirements should work well.
